    Default Name the band/artist

I don't know if this will go anywhere, but it's worth a try.
The idea is obviously to work out the name of the band/artist from the clues given.

I hope the band I have chosen is not too obscure.

    First clues:
The band was formed in Rhode Island in 1969 and featured a bass player who also produced albums for Cream, The Youngbloods and hot Tuna among others.

    Not Uriah Heep

Geography not your strongest subject David, Rhode Island is in America .

    Next clue:
They were named after the guitarists immense size. Their fourth gig was at the original Woodstock, although they never made it into the film or the first album. They were on the second album

My guess is that with an avatar like that - it will be a heavy metal, head banging, lot of nohopers that you would have been interested in

Being the refined type myself i was more interested in Meatloaf, Suzi Quatro and the beachboys.

    Cheers
    regards

Give the man a cigar and a shot at posting the next question, if he wants it. Extra points for picking up my mistake of stating that they were from Rhode Island, that's prolly why David didn't get it .

    I'll bite

Formed in New York in 1981 and still going, many of this band's songs are based on mythology. A usual feature of their live shows is the burning of a weapon on stage.

Not really, more known as a progressive metal band.

They've also toured with Calm's favorite band Uriah Heep

I had to phone a friend (eldest son) for this one. He thinks the band was called Silver Virgins, or something like that.
