It was my first proper concert I've been to, like I've seen my dad play a few times, and bands who've played at the same show, but never a popular artist
I actually went to Blackstump in Sydney a few years back, which was cool, we were with the band ;D but like with this picture andy tweeted a while back from SSB tour http://twitpic.com/94ler we were stacked into that game of tetris

I love Alice Cooper he's so great, Im really into the old classics, for my end of year singing solo performance I'm actually sing Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven beautiful song.

Cool, a nice long response XD oh and thanks again for saying happy birthday to my cousin over twitter, it brought a big smile to her face that Andy's dad wished her a Happy Birthday. Made it close enough to having short stack say happy birthday :P

I like the music behind that, but his voice was annoying me hahaha made me want to clear my throat :P
So your dad's a muso. That's cool. Like I said, I'm learning myself at the moment. It would be cool to strum a guitar around a campfire with friends some day. Eric Clapton is awesome as well, and that's a top song that you've picked there. Feel free to post a vid here or at my myspace if you want.
No problems about the birthday wish. I'm happy to do it for anyone, and I'll put them up in my top friends for the day. I'd like to get the top 40 filled with talented upcoming artists, with the only Short Stack person my son, just under the featured artist, and thier site down at the bottom, just above any birthday fans. I hope you guys don't mind that I moved you out of my top friends list. I have noticed that most bands don't have fans up there.

No problems. Just spell out what you want on each disc, or send me a message if you don't want to give your name.
I'd assume that it's 'Britt', or 'Brittany' on the Princess disc. Let me know.

I am sorry that I haven’t posted anything here for a while, especially after the promises that I’ve made. I haven’t forgotten about you guys, and I have started working on the templates, as well as a post outlining a bit about my family history, with links to photos that I’ll be posting. I won’t be naming or posting any pictures of my family members who are still alive, out of respect for their privacy. There’s no harm in mentioning how many there are though, and I’d like to, because I have been getting questions about it in messages, as well as in this thread here. Some of you fans have met my youngest daughter when you came around to see my poster, so you'll know that she doesn't mind, and there's a chance that she may sign up here some time to say hi. She's had her pic taken with fans before.

I am very proud of my heritage, and so is Andrew, so I will be posting some old pictures of our forebears, including a very special photograph of Andrew’s great great grandfather on my mother’s side, taken in the late eighteen hundreds when he was a young man. I’ll also be posting another special picture of his great great grandmother on my father’s side, and I’ll be talking about the legend that she’s a part of. It’s a story that involves some noble people, and I’ve tracked down some very old photos of who they may be. It’s probably best that it’s a bit of a mystery, because I’d be disappointed if I found out that there’s no truth to it. I’ll probably post it in parts, but I’ve been a bit side-tracked lately.

As I’ve said, I’ve been a bit swamped by friend requests at Facebook since I made my huge poster. I won’t friend them on my Facebook, but I decided to set up a myspace site and friend them there. I wish I’d done it a long time ago, because that place is a lot of fun with all the music that’s around there. There are a lot of great artists there, from musos struggling for recognition, right up to big name stars. Lots of them are giving their music away for free, and lots of others are allowing people to post their music on their own sites. It’s a lot of fun posting good music, and all sorts of other stuff, at your own little corner of the internet, and I’d do it even if there were no Short Stack fans wanting to friend me.

But there are, and that’s why I’ve been side-tracked lately, and haven’t posted here. Whilst I’ve started on the templates, and finished all the Sway Sway discs, I’ve had more requests in messages, but it looks like they haven’t signed up. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, and I’d like to finish all the Sway Sway discs before I move on to the other two. It’s much easier to do them all at the same time, so I’ll ask fans at myspace and I’ll make a list there as well. I’ll see what happens over the next week, because I’m prepared to make more than the handful that I’ve got here now.

I never intended to spam my site with Short Stack, and you’ll probably notice that I haven’t posted any of their videos, and there’s only one link to them under all the artists. You fans are already sold on them, and most of your sites have their best videos posted there anyway, so you don’t need to come to my space to find them.

I was a bit blown away by the bands and artists who were approaching me with friend requests. It’s usually the other way around, and it brought back memories of when Short Stack were doing everything they could to get some recognition from a wider audience than they had on their myspace. So I decided to do whatever I could to help them out. If you check out my site now, you’ll see that I’ve been very busy answering all the comments posted. I’ve been making banners for upcoming artists, and linking them to their sites. I’ve been re-sizing their banners for upcoming gigs, and trying to encourage fans to go and see them. Of course they have all been very encouraging in messages between us, and I’m willing to look at any band or artist that’s got some good music to share, and wants more exposure. If they have an upcoming gig, then I’ll make them a featured artist on the day of the gig, and I’ll give them a plug in a message on my board.

At the moment I don’t carry much weight, with only around fifty fans. But there’s a huge potential audience if you consider how many friends Short Stack has on myspace, and I’m sure that if more of them were aware that I was there, and I was answering questions and uploading pics to my albums, I’d have a lot more. But as well as showing you guys some of the great talent that’s out there, I’d like to attract the fans of other bands as well. I’ll be posting on the boards of the bands that I feature, with words of encouragement, and possibly some of their fans will take a look at my site and give me a friend request. I’ll get a wider audience there, than if I just preach to the converted. I’m encouraging people to post about the featured artist, and any other acts that deserve to get more exposure, and anything else that interests them.

I’m backing up my words by buying their music, leaving favourable comments on their Youtube, and wherever else I find them on the net. I’ll go to their gigs where possible, and I’d like to get some autographs and pictures of me with them. I’d like to get friendly with as many upcoming acts as I can, and I’d like to have a band play at my fiftieth birthday next year. I could never expect Short Stack to play, but I would expect Andy will show up, so I’d imagine that some musos may be interested in an invite. Of course I don’t want them hounding my son, but it would be nice to have a lot of musos there discussing the industry with the rest of my family, and having a good time.

I’d like to put a banner up for Woodwork Forums under the artists as well. I’ve been hanging around here for a while, and like a lot of others here, I’ve enjoyed sharing my knowledge and helping people out, whilst learning a lot myself from all the friendly members here. I believe that the ads here are just to cover the bandwidth, and the owner “Neil”, runs the place just to help people out, and to have a friendly place for people to talk and have fun. He’s a woodworker himself and his business is wood polishing products, so it’s a win win situation setting this place up. He’s a proud Aussie, just like me, and this is the most popular woodworking forums in the world, as far as I’ve found. But it caters to a lot of other interests, from building sail-boats, to music, as well as making musical instruments, to art and photography, metal work, and the list goes on. There’s a blog feature here as well if you’re interested. Of course I’m not trying to convert you into woodworkers, but perhaps you know someone who’s interested, or perhaps your parents are building or renovating and they may have a question to ask.

Anyway, I’ll see if I can get more interest in these templates before I move on to the other two discs, and meanwhile I’ll be contacting some more bands that have been recommended to me.

Thanks for the comments in this thread, and the sticker template offer is still up if anyone wants to post a request. I'm not sure when I'll do them, but it won't take that long once I get started.
    Have a good one. =]

Yeah he is, he's actually traveled around America with his band which is really cool, but sometimes I wont see him for a month, but that has not happened for a while now
And he's recently been working on his second solo album
I personally don't like my dad's music all that much, because it's heavy metal, but I'm proud of him. I told him to let me listen to his album before he adds vocals and I'll be happy,

I think it's a great thing to learn musical instruments. I myself play piano and guitar and I have just started bass, and as you can tell from my earlier post I now take singing lessons and I really do love that song, so that's why I chose it, and I can kinda sing it :P
I might, if I do good, haha it's not till early December though, i think :P Hopefully I'll be good by then
I personally, don't think I'm a very good singer, but i can hit pitch, which my singing teacher tells me I get that from dad, being able to play by ear and hear pitch :P It's strange though because my singing teacher seems very excited when teaching my brother and I, She said she's sees good coming out of us in the future maybe I could be like the short stack boys that's be so cool.

Like I said before, she was very happy. I reckon her reaction was pretty close to what it would've been if Andy, Shaun or Bradie told her happy birthday

I think it's fine, because sooner or later you'll have too many to have in your top friends, but I still have you in mine, just so I can see when you're online and for a quick link

So what have you been up to lately John? (don't take it as a stalker question )

John! i just saw a bulletin post you wrote about for Darcy Fox,
I was like this when I saw the bulletin title >

    Do you like Darcy's music?
I think it's awesome you're helping her out, I actually know her I was in our school musical Grease with her this year, I'm in the "Grease is the word" video that's on her myspace haha, i have singing lessons with her mum & yeah we're pretty much friends
She was sooooo happy when i sent her the link to your bulletin, she said she was talking to you & didn't think you were really Andy's dad :P haha

Well I just wanted to tell you that I think that's awesome, & yeah I'm all excited for her thanks

P.S: I'm actually listening to her new song now I saw her perform at the Moe Tavern, she's soo good i love Darcy haha

There's requests at myspace, and in my messages, but so far no one is following my instructions and posting a request under the templates. This means that I may have to go back through all my messages, and comments on my board to find the requests. That's a lot of trouble and I still may miss someone, so I think I'll announce it again, and compile another list here. If anyone misses out, I'll compile another list, and take note of all the requests for a second batch.

So you're from a musical background then. I'm not mad keen on Metal myself, but I'll help anyone with talent. If your dad wants a plug I'd be happy to listen to him, likewise when you think you're ready to put some music out there.

At the moment I've uploaded three music videos of my own to Youtube. I have a feeling that my polished production music vid could be very popular.

I'm having a ball, and more artists have been approaching me. I've had a positive response from the management of 'Midnight Oil' on myspace, and they said they'd pass my message on. I have bumped in to Peter Garrett, back before Midnight Oil were anything special. He was playing pinball at my local hang, back in the day when I followed 'Jimmy and the Boys' religiously. Midnight Oil used to back them up on their gigs at the time. Nobody really knew the Oils back in those days. I've bumped into him in the surf at Manly as well. Out the back, waiting to catch a wave.
They said that they would pass the message on, so my fingers are crossed for a positive response.

I have a friend request pending for the Divinyls. I've watched Chrissy Amphlet perform at the Manly Vale Hotel before it was demolished, and before the Divinyls were known. I'll send a message there as well when I have time.

Hopefully I'll have a lot of upcoming muso friends at my 50th birthday next year, and a good band performing for me and my kids on the day.

Did you tell her about me?

All good fun, and I will get to that 'Family History' post, including historic pics of Andy's great great grandparents. As I've said, Andy's middle name has some historic significance, and I'll show you who he's named after.
That won't help you much with what the name is though.

PS, I had to delete all the smilies in your posts because I had too many images.

Do you know why he doesn't mention his middle name? why it's such a "secret"? haha
I've came up with 3 conclusions (haha) 1) He doesn't like it 2) He's a tease or 3) he doesn't think it's any of our business/we don't need to know
Am I right with any of my guesses? haha

Yeah I post to many smilies =( haha it's a bad habbit so 've replaces the : with = XD

I've got a picture of a street busker that I watched perform outside the Metro during Short Stack's Sway Sway tour. It's just around the corner from Chinatown, and this cool asian dude was dressed in traditional Chinese garb, he had a ponytail, and he was shredding heavy metal on his electric guitar. It was awesome, and he was good enough to perform inside the Metro I reckon I reckon.
I wish I'd had my movie camera at the time.

I'll post the pics of him, as well as some good shots from the Green Room, and from backstage when the boys were performing. I'm uploading and converting, and editing music video at the moment, and it's very RAM intensive. I've got another box and I'll hook that up to give me a bit more grunt. I can run video programs on a separate box then and it won't affect my web-surfing and photoshop/upload speeds. It takes about four hours to process about four minutes of video footage, into a finished music vid on Youtube. There are four steps to the process, each one takes time and RAM, and everything else slows down when I'm working on video and music.

These aren't for public release. They're just test vids to gauge a reaction from the bands I'll be showing them to. I'm continually improving my camera technique, my editing technique, my production technique, and I also have a lot of other ideas for improvement.

I've got my fingers crossed that when I release a polished clip, it will get some attention. The test vids are great I reckon.

I'm still waiting for permission to use the music I've dubbed on the clips, but I doubt there'll be a problem there. The band 'The Monster Goes Rawrr!!' gives away all of their music now, and it's awesome stuff. They even hand out free CDs to fans. They don't have any music for sale, and they're just trying to get their name out there, so I don't see any problem with me using their music if they like my clip. They've got some great suggestions for my site as well, and I'll be implementing them when I have time.

Yeh, I saw the comment, and she's very grateful indeed. I've sent her a message and I'm waiting on the response. I'll reply to her comment in the thread after she's replied to my message.
    It's a great comment!

I haven't asked, but I'd say it's because he's a tease. It gives an air of mystery, and it would be spoiled if you found out. It's a unusual derivative of a biblical name. It can be shortened to a very common English name, but the way that it's spelled is unusual. Perhaps he would be teased because of this, and perhaps that's why he's never said. It is a name that has been worn by great men in history, and there is a saint who carries the English derivative.
The name itself is popular in Denmark, and there's a rather sad story about the fate of the man he was named after.

I'll be showing you a picture of the man, I'll be saying how he's related, and I'll tell you this sad story that Andrew already knows about.

He's told me that he's proud of the name, but it's not as if he's the sort of person who would tell me that the name I gave him stinks. I don't think he does though.

But that's in the past, and I live for the present, so,,,

Keep Smiling =] , and stay tuned for apestack productions first music vid.

There are four steps to the process, each one takes time and RAM, and everything else slows down when I'm working on video and music.
    Oh that's sooo cool.
But it sucks that you didn't happen to have you movie camera on you
& it also sucks about your computer going slow because of the use of RAM

Naawww, well that's still cool though =]
I just listened to TMGR and they're really good, just added them =D
I'll say you mentioned them to me =]

Yeah that was my main guess haha.

I was never really one of the fans to ask his middle name. But this talk of it is starting to make me curious haha =]

Now I really want to know about this story. =] Even though I don't really like sad stories.
    Awww =]

I've uploaded four vids now, and the fan I've shown them to reckons that theyr'e awesome. So do I for that matter, and I think that they will be very popular. She's the only one who's seen them so far, so another opinion would be good.
These are just demos though, and not for public release. I can and will do much better polished versions before putting them out there.
I can show you the demos if you like though.

OK I'll show you two guys then, but you must understand that you're not allowed to make any copies, and you're definitely not allowed to release it anywhere. You can watch it in your browser, make a comment, and revisit it. You can show it to your friends, but don't give away the address to anyone.

It's a private collection, and I can only show it to 25 friends. You have to be my friend, and I have to approve the video for release to you. I've released it to one fan, and you two will be 2 & 3.

I don't want this released, because apart from the fact that I'm still waiting for approval for use of the music, I've perfected my technique, and I think I've got some awesome footage today. It's downloading from my camera at the moment, and it's a long four step process to get it converted, edited, dubbed, saved, and uploaded. It's much improved on this junk you'll be watching I believe, and I've also got a lot more ideas to implement before releasing something I think may prove to be popular.

I'd like your opinions, so you can friend me on Youtube and send me a message. My handle is 'pawnhead10' and I'll friend anyone who asks, but I'll only show the vids to you two.

I'll wait for your message on Youtube then Mel & fSTACK

    Cheers

Edit: If you go to the host site of most of the videos that I've embedded in my myspace, you'll probably find an encouraging comment from me, as I rate it five stars, and make it a favourite. I'm encouraging good acts, and you're welcome to comment on my board. 52 Flicks have made me a friend and commented, after a comment I made on one of their clips. I didn't even realise that I had that space until recently, and there's one other dude who friended me a while back that I didn't know of either.
