    Agree with your first choice GJ. Second for me would be Graham Connors.

    But then do we ever think much about people like Peter Allen and other foreign based writers??

    Lots of examples of great one off songs - Eric Bogle's "And the Band Played Waltzing MAtilda", Kevin Johson's "Rock and Roll you Gave Me ", Ralph McTell's "Streets of London".
