The Ups and Downs.
Any you peoples heard of the Syd band the ups and Downs?
Early eighties band I did have on vinyl. Did!
They did a version of Solitary man. Bloody good stuff too!
Trying to find a copy on little disc. We call them compact don't we?
Well now they are not compact!
Anyone recmnd a site to visit to see some details and hear a track or two? I wish to buy ofcourse.
An artists work ought to bring them an income so as to survive.
Cheers.Don't pass them by! Be daring and caring!
Dampen their misery....sit with them and talk a little.
Buy them something to eat and a tram fare to a local mission.
I'm so lucky that I've somewhere to live and have family support.

Umm, I thought they were a Brisbane band.
Anyway, I think the only recording of theirs available on CD is one track ("The Living Kind") that made it on to the radio 4zzz compilation "Behind the Banana Curtain". I would love to be wrong about that though. Seems a few bands from the last days of the vinyl era are reissuing stuff on CD lately so If I aint wrong now, I may be quite soon!
Saw them play at last year's Pig City event as part of the Qld music festival. Instead of sounding like has-beens going through the motions for the cash, they were pretty amazing. Possibly better than when I'd seen them in the 80s. Any of the kiddies present, would have been forgiven for thinking they were listening to some young-and-hungry newcomers doing their best to make an impression.
