Got home Sat, but just chilled out at home. Today I installed the new tie-downs and unpacked a bit from the camper before working on the pool stuff. It was the bearings, but unfortunately the cast aluminium housing holding the bearings is also badly corroded and falling apart, so new pump it is. The element for the salt chlorinator is also shot so there goes some more $'s.
Anyway, I did pump up the tyres to max whilst on the highway, slightly less whilst on the dirt roads in the ranges. I ended up with 14.0 litres/100km average, and that was including dragging the trailer up the Glouster Tops and Barrington Tops, so thought it was Ok considering the total load was 5.5t. All up only 1.1 litres/100km extra over the Qld to Melb trip. It will be interesting to see the new average travelling back down again later in the year.
With all the rain Qld has had since I left, on top of what we got before I left, the surfaces inside are starting to get a bit mouldy and I have a lot of cleaning to do . I have to finish the car (side rails etc), then make a few mods to the camper, plus build the new carport. I still have to mill up the 7 trees I left at Rosebank.
So back home and reality setting in fastNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Welcome home mate. Leave the rain at the border next time.
We look forward to seeing at least some of your newly acquired timber being put to immediate use.
Shame to read that your pool problems cutting the trip short. I know there are a million and one pool pump places around but don't forget IPP are just off Ashmore Rd. Never bought pump or pump parts off them but they used to be very good for filters and other bits and pieces.

Great grandfather's houses
A couple of photos I forgot. One is Tuncurry House, the house my great grandfather built and was the family home whilst in Tuncurry, now privately owned. It is declared by the National Trust and used to be open to the public a couple of times a year. It used to be located at the Tuncurry end of the Tuncurry/Forster bridge, next to what is now a B&B (also built my my GGF), but now relocated out the back of Tuncurry near the swamp.
The other is my GGF's original farm house located at Krambach. Unfortunately left to the elements and falling to bits. A few people were considering restoring it until a couple of cows got caught inside the house and died, now soaked into the floorboards , plus home for many snakes. Behind it is also a large Lebanese Cedar planted by my GGF when the rainforest was first cleared.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
