I have been doing a lot of driving today. Started up the mountains from Coopernook today, going up from one side only to find the road closed and barricaded off at Starrs Creek, only 5kms from my destination of Flat Rock lookout (~50kms in). I was going to do the whole loop, but as it was closed, had to head back down to Moorland and head up the other way. It too had a sign saying closed, but no barricade, so kept going and made it to Flat Rock lookout. I will call in on Waitui Falls on way back.
Photos - cave next to the road, not sure if it was the Newbys Cave or not. Then a single shot of the escarpment at Flat Rock, around 300m straight down. The panarmics of Flat Rock Lookout, Newbys lookout and Vincents Lookout. In Vincents you can see, blowing it up hopefully anyway, the Manning River delta in the left hand corner.

I've just gotten home from 3 days camping on the Manning at Bretti reserve. 1st shower in 4 days. Ahh..that feels better.
Love the panoramas Neil. Any idea of how those Sequoias got there. I pressume there is a story goes with them.
I did a gold mine tour on Saturday which included a bit of information about the cedar cutters that worked in the area in the 1800s. I now know where there are some nice cedars that were missedThose were the droids I was looking for.

One of the signs talked about them being planted back in the day, but I don't remember much else.
Yes there are a few left in there, all you have to do is look, but not easy access. Plenty still up my way, I have 3 trees to mill as soon as I get back.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Some pics from Waitui Falls, just before the rain set in . It would be a nice place for a dip if it was a hot day.
I'm now back at Nabiac. I grabbed 2 old posts of Peter's Gidgee , just need to work out where to store it in then trailer with the other timber I've picked upNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

You can tell a timber addict, when the trailer is full (but still 300kgs under), so you need to tie the burls to the sides and Gidgee posts underneath

I want to know which life time you will get to use that timber.
Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Well yesterday I went fishing, and although the sea was quite reasonable, the rain came down in buckets nearly all day long. Trawling was no good, but finally convinced skipper to go bottom fishing, unaffected by rain. Managed to catch 8 flathead of which only 2 were keepers. Sorry, not worth photo, even the keepers were relatively small but tasted good that night for tea
I then got a number of calls from the neighbours at home, problems with the pool pump that was annoying them with noise, I could hear the screeching over the phone. House sitters were not there but they did manage to get there to turn it off. My guess is it is either gravel in the impeller or a bearing has given up. If they took it to the pool shop they would have said new pump required and $800 thank you. So decided to head home early.
I will catch the Bird Tree, Waterfall Way and the other sites I wanted to see some other time. Got to Woolgoolga, where the camper is made, to get some proper hold down brackets and leg side extensions just before he closed (early for weekend). Got some tea at Grafton and currently stopped for the night between Grafton and Ballina at a road side stop. I will arrive home again tomorrow around lunch time, so trip 1 is coming to an end .
Car is travelling well and the load is staying put .
