Only a week????
You were robbed.

I spent 2 weeks down there in '99.
7 days of it inside doing woodturning courses, I want another 2 weeks to see some of the things I missed.

Good on ya, anyway, I know some blokes who did it on motorbikes & one mate did it on a pushy.

I hope to be spending a week down there later this year.

I'll have to warn a few blokes first like Shedhand & Goat for starters.

Benji, I spent 2 weeks there in 2006. We pretty much drove round the entire coastline (as much as is possible). I can tell you that if i were to do it again, I'd be going for 3 weeks.

one beautiful place! (and has some glorious timber too!).

If you get a chance, make sure you vist 'the wall in the wilderness' - probably the most amazing bit of woodwork I saw down there. A definate must-see if you go through Derwent Bridge.

All the people down there are real laid back, and very friendly.

I enjoyed my trip there so much, if i could find work down there I'd have moved there permanently by now.

Went for 3 weeks in 2004 still not long enough and both LOML would do it all again didn't see anywhere near as much as we wanted to.

If you get the chance do the Strauhn to Queenstown R.B.T train ride

Was in Tasmania in 1963 for 6 months working and it was absolutely beautiful. Went back for a holiday about 8 years ago and some of the beauty of Tasmania has been spoiled by commercialism of the tourist trade but I guess thats all about survival. The coastline road from Devenport, heading towards Burnie and Ulverston is not as scenic as it use to be in the old days because of the new road. The old roads gave you a magnificent view of the ocean all the way but now you only catch glimpses as you drive along. Same as the old road to Hobart. That has disappeared too. it use to be quite an experience going down those twisty narrow roads into Hobart

But it is still beautiful and I would recommend a trip to anyone. Cradle Mountain is fantastic. and so are the caves. A week is not long enough but its better than nothing. The people are really friendly and they serve huge plates of food in the restaurants. Great to visit in the winter, it was a constant 9 deg when I went last time and it gave a lovely atmosphere to the place and they serve big mugs of coffee made with milk. Lovely place for a holiday.

If you get good weather Tassie is a riders dream, hundreds of k's of twisty tar and probably even more off-road forestry trails(need permit??)
