Default Aldi four way diamond plates

I know what you are going to say, these are probably rubbish and you are probably correct but for $10 they could come in really handy for the occasional woodworker.

The little woman picked up a couple of these, one for me and one for my brother.

Not fine enough for my liking to use on woodworking tools, but it works a treat on kitchen knives

I have had one for a few years but don't use it much as even the finest one is to course to get a fine surface on tools leaves a course scratched surface.

I think the 200 will probably be the most used, or maybe keep it in the kitchen. I ran a ruler over the faces and they are not exactly flat.

We have no Aldi here in the West, and I think I'd give'em a try. Anyone game to help me?

Mine seems pretty flat when I checked. I use them to sharpen scissors, the back of plane iron and chisels.

I got one a few years back and mostly use it to regrind bevels and to rehab old beat up blades. It is not fine enough for really sharp so I finish on a stone. That said it is really good for the grunt work of getting old blades flat on the back. At the price get a couple. Handy to have.

Harbor freight has them here, but they've always asked more (about $15 US). That's the nature of the beast, though, HF has a lot of junk and they are in business and doing well because they ask quite a lot for things you can find cheaper elsewhere (presuming you don't shop their sales).

Anyway, I got one of those a couple of years ago just out of curiosity, I think they were $10 US at the time, and I had shaptons. I believe they shed a bit of grit into the shaptons from time to time.

For sharpening, they suffer from inconsistent diamond sizes, but for $10, they're plenty good enough for that.

For good stones, ezelaps in 8x3 were available here for a long time for $35, easily the best thing available for the price, but I believe amazon has pricing software that responds to demand and after word got out about that, they went way up from that.
