    Default dressing grinding wheel

Hi, hopefully someone here can help me .
I'm in the process of refurbishing and reaxleing an old 64 cm by 10 cm stone water grinding wheel .I'm anticipating the wheel will run slightly off centre when its in its new stand and think I will need to dress the stone to make it run true . It is a fair size and could possibly need half a cm trimmed off ... quite a bit to remove on that diameter.
What would be the best way to dress this stone , I've seen the small diamond block dressers but not sure if they are designed to take off that much meat .
    Any advice much appreciated,
    cheers Gordon

    Default dressing stone

Mostly these stones are fairly soft.I would set up an angle grinder with a masonry disk fitted and with the angle grinder spinning turn the big wheel by hand and slowly work across and into the until the stone is how you want it.

That would be the way I would do it.

I also do the same for large high speed grinders, very messy but gets the job done. ( I don't in any way endorse this method on high speed grinders, it is my personal choice in the absence of a proper dresser to do it this way)

Old stone grinding wheels should dressed with a disc or star dresser the same as as used with a bench grinder
