Maybe because of the world wide ecomonic downturn, they can bring them in from China cheaply. I wonder what else they can do - or do they only handle drill bits?

I bought a 750X too - now all I have to do is find where I put the box of blunt drills!!!

I have had a Drill Doctor for over 10 years ... don't know what number it is, back then I think they only had 1 model! I use it all the time and haven't replaced the stone yet. Am currently building a CNC router and I think my count is about 400 drill and tap holes in steel and aluminium, so am regularly touching up my drills as I go and it works brilliantly!

I have seen a couple of posts about the new Worksharp which is made by the Drill Doctor people and my initial reaction is that if it is by Drill Doctor it will be a great machine, trouble is I will have to take on a couple of part time jobs to pay for it!!

I bought one a few years ago, a great little machine and no regrets, in fact very happy with it! At the time there was a great disparity between the US and Aust prices so, having a 240/110 transformer in the shed, I bought from the US source. I haven't looked, but are the local models still ridiculously more than the US ones?

Well I have been using the little blighter for about a month now and yes I am very happy with it and by the resonses I should enjoy years of use. What a difference a sharp bit makes.

Got a drill doctor 500X today and it does a mighty job.
Already put about 25 drill bits through it and they turned out very nice.
I paid $390.00 for it out of a catalogue and got a free 19 set of metric hss drill bits to go with it.
Well worth the purchase.

Just looked at the drill doctor 750 on ebay locally its $440.

from USA its $US 172= $Au 211.

Now Iam not a rocket scientist but surely a 240 down to 120/110 converter aint $200.
Would Dick Smith sell them or who would.

Spotlotto. I bought a Drill Doctor when the Aussie dollar was almost at parity with the greenback. I bought a transformer from these guys but you can find plenty of them also on ebay.com.au

Maybe that would be a good idea but I was happy with the price I paid regardless.
I can't argue with you that I didn't get it for the least amount of money but all the same I am happy to get the set of drills with it.
I wouldn't say I have a fear of buying of the internet but I still prefer to deal with a shop.
I know one thing for sure. I have put more than $400.00 worth of drill bits through it and it has already paid for itself.

Yep thats a point USA is 110V 60Hz we are 240V 50Hz so its going to run slow on a transformer, Also by the time you spend 60 or 70 bucks on a transsformer and the postage are you really in pocket. Perhaps yes if you can get a yanky 240V one.

Just bear in mind that if you pay by Paypal for o/s gear there's a 2.5% currency exchange fee, and their actual conversion rates are several cents worse than their published rates.

I got mine from Justtools and whilst it wasn't cheap I think that it has already paid for itself. I keep finding boxes of dead drill bits.

I also think that people get seduced by the apparent cheap overseas price. By the time you factor in postage the conservative exchange rates offered by the credit card providers and the fees you own charges the difference isn't always so great.

i got a couple of prices from all dealers at the PERTH WOOD SHOW yesterday for a 750xDRILL DOCTOR ...best price i could get was $515.....can somebody point me to another place for a better price..
