It's just a brand of knife that's easy to get in OZ. No particular interest in them other than I came across a free one that was abused and never sharpened. It's an average quality Chefs knife or good domestic.
Porche knives are not as popular here in OZ yet. We are a small market and they have not really been advertised much. I think the handle and pin put people off. I had a play with one once. I looks counter productive and uncomfortable......until you put one in your hand! It is actually a very well designed knife. The odd shaped handle is very comfortable and the rounded pins teach people where your finger and thumb should sit.

I think most people at home use very blunt knives so the fist grip seems more natural.!? Maybe!

My SIL gave me both of the Porsche 301 knives that I have.
Big kitchen knife and a skinny prep knife.
Also a 4K waterstone which I have yet to use after 2(?) years.
So far, my wood carving tool stones have done the trick.

Yes, the buttons look strange and the one piece shapes seem odd.
What surprised me the most is that the knives are just as secure and easy
to grip and use when both hands and knife are dripping wet.
The flat planes of the handle shape clearly suggests the orientation of the blade & edge.

The other real "sleeper" in my kitchen is the Lee Valley Peasant Chef Knife.
Wicked feather of steel. I have 3 of them now. The only down side is that
the blades have tarnished quite badly. As usual, I don't care, you aren't
going to see those knives on my table.
