Thread: work sharp ws 3000

It is advertised as an "no learning curve" tool.
In my opinion this isn't true.
I found it particularly useful to restore vintage/battened chisels and plane blades. Though a special care is needed in flattening the back of the blades, the risk of ruining something is always there.

I recently started restoring some vintage pigsticker and found it invaluable in flattening ALL the back (ok, using 3 sandpaper disk 100 grit for 3 pigstickers).

And is quite mess, powder of steel and silicon carbide all over the table.

But it's the only thing I flattened urethane with...

As a not definitive conclusion, a useful machine to do the rough work. I still prefer using DMT and natural stones to honing

I love the WS 3000. Get a great polished finish with my chisels and plane blades (I use a veritas jig for my plane blades). Easy to use, relatively clean and DRY. No messing with Japanese waterstones and having to reflatten the stones regularly.
Flattening the backs of planes is so much quicker. I have found self adheisve sticky 6" sanding disks with a hole cut in the middle work well as replacement disks for the coarser sizes.

Agreed 100% with Clogger.

I thought I knew what sharp was - it's nothing to what I can get with the Worksharp 3000.
