Saw sharpening files
Another silly question.
When measuring a file for saw sharpening, from whence does one measure? Is 6" file 6" from tail to tip, from shoulders to tip or am I measuring 6" of cutting surface?
Cheerio,
Virg.

Hazard a rough guess here and say from the shoulders which should be the start of the cutting length.
The tang is or usually inserted into a handle so i cannot see that as part of the measured length.
Just my views and someone may correct them.
