Using the side of the Tormek SG wheel
Hello, had anyone had any success using the outer side of the 250mm diameter Tormek SG wheel for flattening plane blades and chisels? ( Not the $500+ diamond wheel)
If so, can you please share some of the techniques you used , like the positioning and holding the blades on the wheel, and how you initially place the blade on a running wheel without damage?
Are you able to flatten the side of the wheel with the grading stone or similar?regards,
Dengy

I believe that Tormek sell a guide/blade holder for this purpose. I do not know much about it.

Hi Dengy, unless you have ninja like hand skills i recommend against it, I am still removing grinding marks from some chisels and plane blades years later after trying this technique, also the risk of changing the balance of the wheel although this may be slight , Ross
