    Default Worksharp WS3000 Overheating

    Hi All,

Just got a WS3000 today and used it for about 30mins sharpening a few chisels. The motor cut out and the whole thing stopped. It wouldn't start again for about 15mins. The case felt quite hot. Has anyone had a problem with the machine having an overheat cutoff and getting hot? I have followed all directions for use and I 'm not overloading the machine 1-2 seconds in & out as stated in the manual. It is only 24 degrees here what's going to happen when I sharpen during a summer's day? The machine doesn't seem to have any vents for cooling. Thanks for your help guys

You might want to make sure you have the 240 volt model, not the 110. They come in both flavours ex-factory.

I don't know where you got yours from, but it is always possible that the wrong motor was supplied, wired & badged as 240. Some US wiring has an option for 110/240 built in, just a matter of flipping a switch or moving a few jumpers - again, yours may have snuck by set the wrong way.

    Thanks Mate,

Never thought of it possibly being the wrong motor. I got mine through Machinery Warehouse in Midvale WA for just over $400. I rang the guys at Worksharp Australia and they are going to replace it. Great machine though works really well. Thanks for the reply.
