$2 Shops
Had to stooge around our local shopping area, whilst son at physio for yet another Rugby injury, for a while and walked into one of those $2 junk shops. What a treasure trove! Whilst the quality is not Harrods, I found half a dozen bits and pieces I'd been looking for:
1. Brass Hammer, for adjusting block planes etc $1.98 (never knew brass was magnetic - this one is!!!)
2. Card file $1.98
3. Asian wooden rolling pins. These appear to be rainforest hardwood, about 300mm long and tapered toward the ends. Perfect for handles for small files, chisels etc. I bought 4 @ $1.20 each
4. Set of 5 medium size needle files with handles $1.98
5. 6 miniature Buddha's, which I use to 'sign' my work, $7.00
6. Box of assorted wet and dry paper, 25 sheets $1.98
7. Big, brass wire brush $3.20
It felt like Xmas.Bodgy

Always providing there's no more than 5 beans, as more would rate 'heavy or commercial usage' and void the warranty.
Counting more than 5 beans would also involve using both hands to keep track of the numbers, and hence a cheap abacus is available as a DIY alternative to an ACCOUNTANT.Bodgy

Hi Bodgy,
Okay, you have had your joke!
$2 shops are a rip in the fabric of society that allows the "battlers" to continue to live in filth on our money and feel good about it.
"Oh look phoenix/jade/waterfall.....here is a crappy $2 watch, I couldnt be bothered getting you anything better with dazzlers tax money"

Now lets never speak of this again

They are OK, so long as you have some idea of real prices - I have often found the same items at K-Mart or Target for anything between .10 and a dollar less.

$1.98 is a bit hard to beat tho?Bodgy
