Can anyone give me any information about rikon tools.
Are they good or bad ????
I was looking at buying a 16" spiral head thicknesser i can't find a lot of information or reviews about them
Appreciate any information from anyone who has one or used one

If you believe their spiel you shouldn't have a problem. They have all the right certifications that are supposed to guarantee consistent manufacturing.

I have no first hand experience with Rikon, but I noted with considerable interest that Lee Valley are now stocking and selling them: Lee Valley Tools - Item Search

And Lee Valley don't tend to stock anything "cheap and nasty", they tend to do their homework before deciding to stock stuff.

That could (not guaranteed, but could) give a good indication of overall quality, perhaps?

Thanks from what I've seen they look to be very well made <br>
the machine im looking at is just under 4k and i was looking for some feedback before i get it.
as i have not used rikon they seem to be a bit beter than carbatec

As a question (and I truly hope this doesn't come across the wrong way) - can you joint and resaw 16"?

Many folk tend to prefer being able to resaw and joint to the same width as their thicknesser (of course, that doesn't always apply, it's a highly individual thing).

I ask because (for example) a Jet 12" jointer/thicknesser with spiral head is 4k...

I have a slab master for bigger work i have a 12" carbtec spiral joiter and at the moment i have a 13" bench top carbatec thicknesser.
I was looking at upgrading to a 16" free standing spiral head rikon thicknesser because it's the bigget i can go in single phase
and they look to be better finish and better quality than carbatec.
Im a farmer become truck driver and i play with a bit of timber as a kind of hobby and i would like to upgrade to a good machine that will last and do a excellent job. My woodwork tool knowledge is limited and in looking for feedback .
the dealr in perth gave me a demo and they are so much quieter and smooth compared to thr old bench top.
I do appreciate your feedback and knowledge
