305mm replacement blades
Hi,
I am looking to improve the performance of my Rockwell 305mm SCMS by replacing the blade however, I am having trouble finding a decent one. I notice there is a good range of 300mm/12" versions but cannot find as many 305mm. I want to achieve accurate and clean cross cuts in melamine and hardwood. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Dear Metester,
Bosch do five different 305mm blades in their Optiline series, ranging from 40 to 120 teeth, in increments of 20 teeth. The bore is nominally 30mm, but it looks like they give you reduction bushes that will get you down to both 25 and 20mm. They apparently give a very reliable result for a fairly affordable price. This link should take you to the relevant page of their website:

If you can't track one down, perhaps you can adjust the Depth Stop on the Saw so that a 300mm Blade will drop down enough to do the job?. There's usually a little Locking-Nut on the Depth-Stop-Bolt that needs to be loosened, so that you can then wind the Bolt up a wee bit (in order to allow the Saw to drop a wee bit more...) before tightening up the Locking-Nut again...
See how you go...
Good Luck,
Batpig.

Thanks Batpig. Bosch sounds good. I'll also give your other idea a go.

I bought the Bosch Optiline 100T model from Total Tools earlier today and am very happy with it. It produced a mirror finish cross cut along Tassie Oak with minimal tearout along the bottom face and none along the top. For $73 this is a great value blade and I would suggest compares well with more expensive blades. In addition it produced a very straight cut which the OEM blade on the Rockwell failed to do due to blade warp. Finally, the blade has a generous amount of carbide on the teeth suggesting I will get a few goes at sharpening should I need them in the future. Good one Batpig .

Dear Metester,
That is great to hear! I've been meaning to get one of them exactly the same size (but with maybe only 60 teeth), to replace the original blade that was fitted to my 315mm Site Saw. It was always going to be a Bosch Optiline if and when the wallet eventually opened, but I just haven't bothered getting around to it yet for general lack of spare time, as well as my own doubts as to how much of an improvement it would offer over the existing blade. But now I'm sold, as they say...
Best Wishes,
Batpig.
