Thumbs up $44.00 LN #62 Upgrade

If you have a look on the Lie Nielsen (US or AU) web site you can order planes with Cocobolo knob & tote but a few months ago you could order planes with Rosewood handles.

I emailed the guys at Lie Nielsen Aust & was told they had some Rosewood knobs & totes for the #62.
I've had my #62 for about 6 years & have never been happy with the Cherry knob & tote even though it's supposed to be a premium USA timber.

For $44.00 I ended up with some very slick looking Rosewood. They have had a little refinishing & a light change of shape to the tote but they fit well with the rest of my planes.

    I reckon it's a bargain!!!
    Cheers

Nice tote Major, I think I'll stick with my Cherry tote, it works for me.

I must admit to being more interested in the glimpse of the dovetails though .

$44 is better use of my time & effort than making one.

Would have to source good quality Rosewood, buy a minimum amount & spend time on a tote & knob... time I don't have.

Are you volunteering to send me your lathe?...... otherwise I'd need a lathe as well as the time required.
    Cheers

ZedZEDZEDmoderate your behaviour young simian , obviously a working piece of art is extraneous to your simple chimpanzee lifestyle .

Sure it looks good but I would have spent the 44 bucks on something else.
But if it works for you, well good-oh.

The cherry on my LN's is good enough for me.
