Abbott & Ashby 8" b/grinder
G'day,
I'm looking to put a bid down on an Abbott & Ashby 8" grinder on eBay as shown in attachment. I've spent a few hours searching on the net trying to find their website. Does anyone know their website, if one exists? Or, does anyone know the shop price of this grinder? I think it's around $160, but I want to know before I go putting a bid down.
I've also looked at places like Glenfords, H&F etc. on the net but can't match the pic down to any of the b/grinders in stock anywhere to really identify it.
Thanks for your help in advance.

You may want to check bunnings first, because I saw an 8" there for $120 a while ago. Don't make the same mistake I did if you call, make sure that you tell the person to look on the floor.

G'day Mkat,
Thanks. Was that an Abbott & Ashby?
Don't worry, this guy sells them continually on eBay, so if I don't get it at the price I want I'll wait for the next one.
I'll check Bunnies, but they seem to carry the cheap junk like GMC, Ryobi, although they do have Makita b/grinders for abot $142.

Yes, it was Abbott & Ashby, I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I didn't have the funds at the time to get one. I called two weeks later, but they said they didn't have any in stock and won't be ordering any more. I took the person's word for it and bought a more expensive one on ebay. I went back 2 weeks later and there it was in exactly the same location. What can I say...

Apparently, Abbott and Ashby, like a lot of other tool manufacturers have more than one "line". A Cheaper, lighter duty line aimed at the occasional user and a heavier duty, more expensive line aimed at trade use. Hence the seemingly wide range of prices.

G'day Boban,
The colour on the pic is real bad and to me could be grey or green. What's your take on it's colour - if grey I'll stay away from it.
Don't want to buy a lesser b/grinder when for a few bucks more I could get the better of the two.

Boban is correct, this is the cheaper version. IIRC, the A&A I had was more rounded and a lighter green. It was easily the best unit I've owned, unfortunately a thieving removalist also liked the look of it.

G'day,
Theiven theives, should shoot 'em!
Thanks on the head up, won't be buying the b/grinder from eBay. I'll save the hard earned for my haul on my next visit to C/T.
