Default Anyone used AEG's mitre saws?

Recently saw at Bunnings a CMS and SCMS for $499 and $799 respectively.

AEG POWERTOOLS [ AUSTRALIA ] PRODUCTS | Saws

Heres a link to the two.

Im in the market for either a CMS or SCMS, and these caught my interest. Anyone own one?

I have the 12" Hitachi......i saw the AEG and Bunnings and after owning 2 different saws i was keen to see a few things..i really like the big table. and a couple of other features.
But i would have to say the stiffest machine i have looked at without fail would have to be the Festo.
The new Bosch is also out and seen that at a power tool shop....funny since Bosch said it wasn't coming to Australia..and that is worth looking at. And that is somewhere between the AEG and Festo in price.
But make sure you look at the Bosch as it radically different in the way the slide system works.Infact it doesn't use linear bearings at all.
There a couple of links on this site to the new Bosch somewhere.

Bosch redefines sliding miter saw category with new "glider" system - Fine Homebuilding

    this is worth seeing.

the market leader in this class is definately the dewalt dw718, its robust, basic, compact & extremely reliable. Our service department just got one in for service last, its the first we have seen in over 6months, we sell brushes for this model pretty frequently & at the last 5 working with wood shows we have done in sydney it has outsold every brand & price point.

If price is not an issue & you want the best the festool kapex 120 is by far the best, there is also the kapex 88 which sells for arount the $1300 mark

I know what you mean as i said after owning a couple of different saws you get an idea of what some would be like.

When i had the chance to have a good look at the Kapex i was really surprised just how well made and how stiff the machine is. Haven't used one but i can imagine it would be impressive.

I think that statement is now questionable with the arrival of the Bosch glide saw. certainly in the past the Festool was far and away the best but the issue is now longer as cut and dried as it once was. If anyone is looking at buying in this price range they would be doing themselves a disservice not to look at both.

I dont know.... yes, festool is very good quality, but the prices they charge are just rediculous.

Are you really going to know the difference in cuts between a festool, or high end makita, dewalt or bosch?

Geting back to my original topic (:P) I was more interested in the mid-range mitre saws for home use. ($400 - $800)

If that's your budget I would strongly suggest you get a saw with a good couple of years warranty for peice of mind. So the age might be a better bet for you as it comes with 3yr warranty. We are an accredited AEG mega service centre for warranty repairs nationwide & still haven't had one in for warranty repair, they are engineered by the same team as the Milwaukee so there's some pretty good technology behind them
