aligning planer blades
I would appreciate any tips on aligning planer blades
I have a Makita 0810 82 mm planer and I have a piece of blackwood 240 mm wide that I want to get a nice finish on. I have been using the planer for a few jobs around the house and noticed when the workpiece is wider than the blade, between each pass is a bit of a line as though one side of the blade is lower than the other.
I have only had the planer for a few months, the blades are the original so I will need to take them out to sharpen/replace them anyway so was wondering if there are any tricks to getting everything lined up.
I tried a few searches but came up with zilch.

the tool came with a black plastic jig for setting the blades when you bought it, the owners manual should have instructions on using it.
if they are the reversible minni blades just undo the 3 bolts holding the black curved blade cover down, slide out the blades & slot new ones in, make sure they are engaged into the locating slots & re assemble!
