    Default bandsaw blade help

    hi guys so i bought a new bandsaw today ,money well spent but when i made my first cut on some 12mm scrap mdf i notoiced that the cut was rought i looked at the blade is has big teeth and is only 3tpi and also looks like the teeth are angled abit i also have another 6tpi blade with realy fine teeth would this give me a nicer cut

    In 12mm the 6tpi blade would do a cleaner cut. I would also suggest getting blades made for you from Henry Brothers or the like. You can call them and tell them the type of work you are looking at doing and they will match the blade to suit.

    A rough rule of thumb for matching tpi to a job is that there should be at least 3 or 4 teeth in the cut at any given time.

    Sorry I am a bit late answering this. For resawing, that is for ripping, the usual advice is to use the 3 tpi skip tooth blade. I bought a new one of these recently and all my previous problems were solved. I could not use a fence before because there was too much drift. Now it cuts straight. It's true that the cut is not smooth like a good circular saw but it is not too bad although I have to smooth the cut a little afterwards.
