So was I. I'm thinking of putting the radio on Gumtree and see what I can get for it. They are $79 to buy seperately

There are drills for all uses and we will never all agree on one brand.

I have had atlas copco/milwalkee 18v, several makitas. My current cordless is a Metabo, cost $300 RRP was $560 odd
It is brilliant not perfect but dam close and after 4 years have not killed it yet.
But not everyone wants to spend that much on a drill or probably uses it as hard. But it is probably the nicest drill I have owned.

I would have bought a Festool one with electronic torque control but the price was just way out of my league at over a $1000 plus batteries.

    Good luck with your choice.

When I bought my first (in need of a reno) house, back in 1983, when I had a pretty good income, I bought a new Metabo 1/2" electric hammer drill. I think it cost abotu $230 at the time. Great bit of gear. Still going strong.

The CPI in March 1983 was 34.3 and CPI in March 2015 was 106.8. So a 230 drill in 1983 is equivalent to 716 now

If you ring Tooltechnics (Festool) in Melbourne you might just score one of the very last Protool PDC 18 drills with two 1.5Ah batteries and a charger for $250. I very much doubt there's a better drill on the market, and absolutely not for that money.

    4 gears
up to 3800 rpm in 12 steps
heaps of torque - known to have broken wrists of dopey operators
Looks, feels, sounds and performs like top quality.

Thanks from me also. I got one of the 4 last left as well. Having owned the TEC version for about 5 years there is no way I could let one of these slip buy. Brilliant value for money, absolutely the best drills I have used, let alone owned.

I thought I had paid $250 delivered for mine but looks like I may have paid $260...

I got one too. Very happy.

Festool stung my dealer a $20 delivery charge. He was livid but managed to wangle a $20 credit off his next delivery.

My all time favourite was an AEG (9.6 I think it was ) bought in 94. It was a gorgeous thing to use. Wish they made a corded version too.

Now im a makita man. 18v just convenient for the range. Mo complaints except dome crap batteries
