    Default Bearing supplier wanted.

I've searched through the forums but haven't been able to track down a bearing supplier for the headstock bearings on my Jet 1621 (or is that1261, can't remember). Anyway, my Jet lathe. I get a screeching sound and vibration from the headstock when I'm hollowing chuck mounted pieces, and also when I'm putting a bit of pressure on while sanding. Take the sandpaper off and the noiise stops, so I'm guessing bearings. I got it about 6 months ago second hand, and it had been idle for a number of years prior to that, so a bearing replacement might be a good idea anyway.

So can anyone point me to a supplier in Melbourne who will have the Jet bearings, or will they be generic and available at most bearing suppliers.

Probably generic. All you need is the bearing dimensions and you'll be away.

Try the NSK range. Victorian outlets are listed http://www.nskaustralia.com.au/Nskau...aspx?State=VIC

Otherwise give LEDA in Adelaide a call http://www.ledamachinery.com.au/
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

Let your fingers do the walking.

They use standard bearings that you will pick up at any bearing supplier and probably cheaper than Jet originals.

Thanks Jim, Silent. I'll hunt out a supplier locally. Glad to hear it shouldn't be a problem.
