I saw them last week and had a look and compared to my Ryobi.
It seemed to have a bit more side movement when pushing on the handle but at the price it would probaly be ok.
They are just getting cheaper and cheaper. They must be saving somewhere on the quality.

The trouble with all this "unbranded" stuff is parts when the warranty runs out. GMC has a 2year replacement warranty because it's cheaper than keeping an inventory of spares. If it breaks down in 3 years time will you be able to get parts? I buy some cheaper stuff but usually for a specific job, where I know the tool will pay for itself before the warranty runs out, so afterwards I can consider it disposable. Just a cautionary thought

I am aware that paying a premuim is not for everyone, but when I needed a SCMS and couldn't afford one I used a large protractor and a circular saw, the setup was longer but quicker than by hand. I saved up and within a couple of years bought a Hitachi C8FB2, I paid around $720.00, and I know that I will get many years of continous service and If I was to sell It I would still get more than some of these cheaper saw available.

Thank you for the replies, I'll go for it I think.
As for the spare parts issue - a valid point - I'm fast coming around to the 'ignore it' view. Bit like my shoes and the cobbler, it doesn't happen anymore, different materials/methods/price(labour) seem to mean new is cheaper. Incidentally about 4 years ago I tried to get a replacement 'footplate' for a Ryobyi circular saw - no longer stocked!
Thanks again,
Bob.
