The Bosch POF50 was a little ripper. It was my first power tool purchase (I already had an electric drill inherited from my father). The light weight design meant you didn't have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to use it and it was put to great use while renovating a house rather than building furniture.
When mine eventually broke I unwisely bought one of the first GemC pieces of sh*t that has forever biased my view of cheap tools. I've now got a Makita 3620, but I still miss the Bosch.

I think I just bought a Bosch blue router on ebay but I'm not sure... Let you know when it arrives...

P.S. Gerhard, once again, a well written and informative contribution. My info on the AEG OF50 (same as the MOF 96) is however, slightly different than yours: says 'Made in Germany' but in truth it was built by ELTOS in Bulgaria and assembled in the AEG factories here.Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

eBay god is but a man...
It's not my fault really... Cruising around in eBay, saw a pic of a router, dark and hard to tell if it's green or blue...
3....2....1....What the hell. Whack in a bid and hope for the best. It came the other day. Like a kid on Christmas I opened the carton and peeked inside...
Damn! Green . I thought I'd better take a look anyway. Dirty as hell but no scratches so nothing a bath won't fix. Started pulling her down and noticed all the stickers say she's made in the USA - backing up what Gerhard said.
I dig deeper and start to notice some nice features on this thing:
- Spring loaded bayonet easy release collet system
- 7 stage height turret
- Adjustable indicator on the height shaft
- Fine adjuster in metric and imperial
- Good spring-loaded plunge lock with press to release
- Pre-drilled holes in the base plate for table mounting
- Solid fence - despite being plastic
- Soft start and well sealed electronic speed control
- Flip-away dust guard
- Simple but effective arbour locking system - open for zero dust problems and visual confirmation
- Trigger on the handles - common enough but still nice
- Dust boots on the plunge rods
- Good cast design in the base
- Heavy precision cast bottom end - and I mean HEAVY
- Top notch Japanese and Canadian bearings
- Fantastic-looking arbour with large commutator for big meaty brushes
- Recessed nuts in holes to mate the dust extraction
