Thread: Bosch GEX 125 AVE ROS

I bought this in 2015 based on reviews and it was one in their Professional Series.
It’s had sporadic work over the years. Today I decided to give my front veranda floor (Tallowwood) a sand down as the finish I used previously is a POS and worn very badly. It is really only a coating over the wood with no soak in at all. I took the advice of a paint supplier.
All was going swimmingly

until the sander literally fell apart. The shaft that connects the pad to the sander is a press fit in a bearing and it just worked it’s way out of the bearing. (The lower part in diagram labelled 826)

Trying to fit it back in shows that it must have been slipping for a while as it’s a ‘thumb” press fit in and a ‘thumb/forefinger” pull out and shows signs of wear.
I thought I could buy that part and a bearing but oh no, you have to buy a complete assembly which is half the cost the the ROS itself and requires a total dismantle and the unit pressed off the armature - part 826.
So I gave the parts a clean with acetone and applied some Loctite 620. I’ll give it 48 hours and a retest.
I’m not impressed and wonder, as it’s a Professional tool, how long it would have lasted a professional using it day in and day out.
