Thread: Bris TWWW Show specials on Makita and Milwaukee?

There will be heaps of show specials, that I am positive of.
I grabbed a few last year.
Just know your retail prices and be prepared to do the touchy/feely of other brands.
As an additional note I have the 14.4v Panasonic drill/driver combo, and it gets flogged to death.
Undoubtedly the best tool I have ever bought, and the 18v versions are only a couple of empty tinnies heavier.

I tend to only get there for one day so ive never really had the chance to compare. Is it better to try and go for deals toward the start or the end of the show? I was actually thinking Friday this year just cos it's a bit quieter...

I haven't been there @ stumps so who knows, maybe someone else may know.
A little birdie told me that Festool the green machines C&LTools will be having some great deals.

Forget it. Just go to Trade Tools. I've always found their everyday prices better than any so called "Specials" at the TWW Show.

Funny you should say that! They are exactly who I have been measuring everyone else against so far. $50-100 or more cheaper on sets. Great range of Makita skins in store, not so much on other brands.

Bought a couple of sash clamps last month, very happy with them too. They seem to be one of few remaining genuine tool stores at competitive prices.

Thanks wolften. I didn't get any crap from the reps the last few times I've been in. Maybe I just lucked on a good rep but he actually listened to what I was after and not just pushing his own agenda.

With Glenfords just closing down, any other stores you like to frequent (if you think TT not that competitive)?

I was after the exact same kit at last years Syd show. I eneded up with the Milwaukee 18v kit. It came down to that or dewalt. The Makita deals were a waste time.

Vary interesting.

I read today that the LXT batteries are not nearly as well monitored as the Milwaukee or Hitachi, (not smart batteries and no over-discharge cut-off or individual cell monitoring) which I had suspected but it is hard to find good information on. Having used the Hitachi DV18DL for more than 12 months I am very familiar with its all or nothing discharge and it definitely cut-out firmly when getting down on juice.

This may well sink Makita's battleship for me.

Apart from the obvious mechanical differences such as metal gear train or not, I am starting to swing around to whoever can offer the best battery technology. In corded tools I would not necessarily carry the same loyalty.

So far its Milwaukee M18 vs Hitachi vs Makita LXT with Milwaukee out in front.

I reckon I'll see what I can dig up on Friday....

I love my Makita LXT and have never had nor heard of a battery problem with them
