Hi Malb,
I too have a Carbatec scroll saw and would be very grateful, as I'm sure would others, to have your expert advice as to how to achieve the result he describes here.
However I'm new to these excellent forums...but need some help as to how to send a message to you please?

Barney?
As a newby, I think you currently fall foul of the anti spam provisions of the Forums. Not sure, it was five years ago that I was a newby, but I think you need to get to about 10 posts to get past the anti spam and be able to send messages. Think that you initial posts are moderated before appearing as well, as the place gets a fair collection of spammers and they have a proactive anti spam policy.
Once you get past the anti spam hurdle, if you want to message someone from a thread like this, click on their name at the top of one of their posts to open a popup, find "Send a PM" click on it and you will open open a message sesion window. Prepare the message with Title and message body and click the send message button below the message box. If the recipient is willing to accept direct emails, you may also have the option to "Send an email" in the dropdown.
Alternatives from the Brown menu line (Activity Stream .... Advanced Search)
a. Select Community then Member list then 1st letter of username, search through list till you find recipient, click on Send PM icon beside their name to open a message window. May have a "Send an email" icon as well.
b. From Private Messages, you should be able to open a new message window where you type in the recipients username (multiple recipients possible).
Will send you a PM with my email address so you can contact me.
Does the scroll saw have a NVR (No Volt Release) power switch. If not, you can get a Mc Jing footswitch, plug it into a power point and connect the saw to the footswitch outlet, and leave the saw switch in the on position. If it has an NVR switch it needs to be modified slightly to take the footswitch. I'm geussing that you aren't electrically savvy or you would know what to do, and I am a long way away and cannot check your work. For WW (original poster) I was in a position to help as he lived a couple of kms from where I worked and I offered to do the job for him. Ultimately he decided to leave his drill in original configuration.I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
