Buying a new router
woodies
When purchasing a router enclosed is a number of items to look for (in my opinion)
Buy a 1/2" chuck ( you can also use 1/4" bits) though they are usually shorter than the 1/2" cutters.
Make sure is is a Plunge Router.
Select a round base router as the base can be used as your first Template Guide.
It is important the router is capable of accepting a Variety of Template Guides.
It should be capable of fitting a 40mm Temp Guide for the following reasons;
1. It is capable of accepting the larger cutters e.g the 33mm dish cutter from the Carb i tool catalogue.
2. The cutter can be seen when in use.
3. The Swarf can be removed more easily.
4. When using the short 1/4" cutters the chuck can penetrate through the guide adding safety to your routing without the need to extend the cutter too far out of the chuck.
Happy Hunting
Tom.

Tom
Did you notice that Neil has put up a Router Forum on this Bulletin Board?
I look forward to seeing your input?
