Default Calling all Jet super saw owners...

I'm looking seriously at this saw and need to ask a query about the dado capacity on this saw. One dealer this morning advised that on the CE model of the supersaw that a dado blade cannot be used. This is due to the fact that in Europe, dado blades are considered unsafe and therefore not allowed on saws.

Can anyone who has one of the saws advise if this is correct?

    TIA

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew

    I have a Jet JWSS-10LFR 10" SuperSaw

I don't know if there is any real difference between this and the other SuperSaw models but mine handles an 8" dado set with ease.
The fact that Europeans don't like/allow dado sets is entirely irrelevant. I cannot imagine why they don't like them as I consider them to be safer than the standard saw blade as you seldom need to make a dado that is any deeper than 19mm whilst the 10" saw blade may sometimes have almost 100mm of blade whizzing around near my fingers.
The only thing that I can suggest for their stance may be if they are used without a suitable saw table insert. ie a specific zero clearance insert for each size of dadoing width. In any case, he seems to be advising you not to use a dado blade on ANY saw at all because the Europeans consider them as unsafe. Who knows? Foreigners eh? Can't live with them, can't liv ... what the hell am I saying? Of course we can live without them.

    Hi Bob,

No the dealer wasn't putting me off using a dado blade set, he just said that some of the super saws which carried the CE designation could not use a dado blade set. It was the first I had heard of it as I have never seen the saw advertised as CE safety compliant.

Is the 10LFR a new or older model? On the WMH website, http://www.wmhtoolgroup.com/JETWood/...w/JWSS-10.html they
list different models. Have you been happy with your purchase?

The saw is about 1 year old. I have been VERY happy with the saw and it meets all my sawing requirements including its dadoing abilities.

Supersaws are available in 2 different models,( CE & UL Listed) yes the CE version does not take the dado blade,it features a different guard also.

We bring in both models and let the customer decide which model they desire.

We had on display at the Brisbane Woodshow the CE model.

    Rohan,

Welcome .... it is good to read the replies from the stores.

Why would a customer choose a model that doesn't accept a dado blade over one that does?

What is the difference in guard that would make it a better buy?

    Thanks
