Cheapo Saw Woes...
About 6 months ago I bought a cheapo Warrior 210mm mitre saw, mainly for building my model railroad benchwork. Well I lent it out and when it came back the blade had a few tips missing on the blade - must have hit a few nails or screws me thinks....
Anyway, I went and bought a new Dymaxion 210mm 40T blade from Timbecon, cause I have a bit more cutting to do....and this produced a problem. The Dymaxion blade has a 30mm bore and the saw has an 18mm shaft. I haven't been able to locate one of the thingies that enable me to fit the blade (what are they called BTW?). Does anyone make this size thingie? If so where might I buy one? Or is my only option to go an buy a bloody mitre saw that actually had standard stuff (or is the all powerful, highly accurate Warrior [NOT!] standard in some way?)
Cheers

You need a 5/8th bush.
Timbecon will be able to sell you one. You won't find one in Bunnies.

Aha! 5/8 - thanks. Would anyone know any Sydney suppliers before I go off to Timbecon via the web? I am in Riverstone (Windsor area-ish)....
And yup, no tool of mine will EVER be lent again, no way, no how!!!

Try, other hardware shops I bought 2@ 30mm to 5/8 reducers at the local Bunnies $3.20 the pair just 4-5 weeks ago. So some stores stock them.

Carbatec Brisbane sells the CMT ones for $ 5. each so CT in Sydney should have them.

Hmmm, it seems that 5/8 is close to 16mm, not 18mm like I've got - from the Timbecon site "We find that 16.0mm bushes are suitable for 5/8in arbors"....bummer!

Try Carbatec.
If no luck, send the blade back to Timbecon and get your money back.

Any good power tools shop. ie total tools, VJ's, maybe the big M10 @ windsor. They are an item used all the time by people in the trades.

Most decent tool shops will have a box of em under the counter in a varity of sizes.
Some blades evem come packed with them.
Last time I baught some the cost me like $1 each.
Don't need em any mor all my machines have 30mm arbours
I recon to always buy blades with 30mm arbours then you can bush to what ever size. Face it if you buy a decent blade it may outlast several machines.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Bruce,
A good hardware store or tool shop will have a range of bushes. Check your saw manual to see what the shaft size actually is. Don't listen to salespeople when they tell you that 16mm = 5/8, there is a difference, it does matter and both sizes are available. The shaft may be 19mm or perhaps its 11/16, 24/32, or 21/32. I've not come across a saw or blade with the 32nds sizes but that's not to say that some idiot manufacturer hasn't used them, come to think of it I've never seen a 18mm shaft either.

Thanks Guys
I'll try the local hardware stores around here and also M10 in Windsor.
I am pretty sure the shaft is 18mm. I measured it with my digital vernier at 17.99-18mm. And you're right about the 16mm / 5/8 bit - 5/8 is 15.875mm
