Thread: circular saw revision

The only component that would require lubrication would be bearings, but in you case I would think they are sealed so don't require lubrication, unless they are fault in which you would need to replace them.

I replaced the bearings in my very old makita saw some years ago and can confirm they are sealed so no lube required.

I was told to use general purpose lithium grease (high temperature and high speed grease) for the inside gears of the circular saw. I assembled the saw and I saw that after about 10-20 seconds of work with no load, only the blade, the area were the gears are located is a little bit warm. It is normal ?
Also, I found that the carbon brushes makes sparks like in the image: carbon-brushes — ImgBB . I cleaned the armature and the brushes using sand paper, before assembling back the saw. Is the dimension of the sparks also normal ?

It it was running cooler when new something may be wrong.
When taking apart power tools I always check the carbon brushes and gently clean the commutator if necessary. Check the bearings by giving the threaded shaft a push and pull in and out. Special electrical cleaning spray is available. Make sure its for delicate or sensitive electronics.The manufacturer will tell you what grease to use.

The gearbox will overheat if it is filled with grease, caused by the friction of the grease being churned. The amount of grease required is in the region of 1/4 to 1/3 full. This means the gears can pick-up lubricant as required but are not immersed in it.
