    Default Circular saw speed

    Hi all,

I've just acquired a Bosch variable speed plunge saw and I have what I thought would be a simple question...........what speed to use for a given blade and material?

The explanation for this in the Bosch manual is in the form of a pictogram (see below), a method my brain struggles with for some OCD based reason. The saw came with a 48 tooth top precision blade.

I can find lots of info about calculating the speed for the diameter of the blade but since this saw takes a 165mm blade this theory would imply one speed only.

For the record I did search the forum but could not find anything definitive.

    Cheers.

I’m afraid I only know one speed, fast as.
circular saws and table saws are only one speed so some r&d expert has decided obviously we “need” variable speed.

The picture is vague at best but I decipher your 48 tooth is good for wood and multi materials
assume the first row of images is ply/pine/mdf/Tas oak or (any wood not pine) or (the last image could still be pine but they depict cross cut and rip suitability)

    cheers
