Default Cleanting Anti corrosive compound from Jointer

    Hi Guys,

I've just picked up a 6" Jointer and was wondering what the best product for cleaning the top is? I've tried Metho but it tended to make the compound go extremely tacky and cause the rag to stick.

    Cheers,

    Evan

Make sure you get your wax, or Lanoguard, or Silbergleit, on to it pretty soon after degreasing as cast iron will get rust on it while you're thinking about it.

You might also try a fine steel wool with the kero. (000 or 0000) This makes the job a little bit easier. Then clean up with a rag, spray lanoguard and hey, presto - new machine...

Thanks guys for the advice, the kero worked a treat!!

I will take your other advice and get my hands on some lanoguard.

Supercheap Auto have a similar product which I use, can't remember the name at the moment and it's pouring rain so I'm not going down the shed to find out, sorry.
