I find impact drivers very noisy especially working in a small shed where the noise pound on your ear drums but the drilling 2Ks rpm speed before the impact mechanism kick in is incredible. I always reach for the impact driver for drilling if I have the wobbly hex drill in right size. Get yourself a pair of Moldex Jazz Bands ear protection, they hang on your neck and you can put them on or remove quickly, out of the way.

I don't see how cordless drills can match the torque of an impact driver. Notice a lot of two kit combo impact and drill driver. They do different jobs, the drill being more versatile. Use the impact driver for high torque jobs, this reduce wear on your drill driver.

I hate driving Philips screws with the impact drill, they just self destruct the head and the driver bit. If you ever have to screw in a camber there is no chance for impact action. The drill bit has has to be perpendicular to the screw head otherwise it will be skipping like crazy. Impact driving is best with torx, hex or square drives.

The 4.0Ah battery pack weight more than 1.3Ah, something to consider.

Cheers! A more comfortable pair of earplugs was on the agenda.... I currently use ear-muffs, but they do get sweaty in the sun!

I have just completed a cubby-house for the kids, and used the Panasonic drill to drive about 50 or more bugle head screws, and roofing screws.... this has convinced me of the idea of buying a driver.... to have two cordless tools, and not have to keep swapping drill-bits for driving bits, would save me a lot of hassle in when building the bigger deck.....
