Dremel 4200, released too early??
Hi all,
For those who may be looking to upgrade to the new 4200, and want to use tooling with shafts other than 1/8" without the aid of the flexible shaft you may want to hold off on making a purchase.
After about 2 hours of calls (I am not exaggerating), I have finally confirmed that the smaller collets EZC481,EZC482,EZC483 are not yet in Australia, and probably will not arrive until at least October. If someone tells you (even the guys at support, which they tried to with me) that the collets for the 4000 will fit, they are wrong, or that smaller shafts can be used in the 1/8" collet that is also incorrect.
The Dremel was a gift from my wife, and I have never used one before, so I am not sure how often the need will arise to use the smaller collets without adding the flexible shaft, but thought it might be helpful to let others (who may have old tooling with smaller shafts) know. I am thinking I will mostly reach for it when I have one of those jobs that I can't get the bigger tool in to reach.
Lastly the dremel keyless chuck (4486) is not the solution as it can not be fitted to the new 4200.
Cheers,
Camo
