Had to get a new drill
Been fencing and driving 75mm batten screws into treated pine. Have dilled pilot holes but my trusty 25 yr. old B&D Marathon 550Watt. drill just can't cope any more.
So off to The BGS and bought .....Waaiiitt 4 it >>>>>
An 1100 W Ozito. Chineses watts of course! $99, three year replacement warranty, so if it cacks I have lost nothing. If it lasts, then I'm ahead.

If it suits you then that's all that matters. I have a couple of Ozito's and they suit my use fine.
Some guys need to spend $400 before they're happy, that's fine too.
Enjoy!So many ideas........so little skill........

You are both righ Elan and Murray. I know there was a thread here about people knocking Ozito but I have seen quite a few Ozito tools being used by tradies and none of them complained.
The tool may well be a bit bulkier and heavier than higher end products , but so what. It gets it's first workout today.

The tradies kill them within the warranty period and start over.

I have a 9" Ozito side grinder that is a champion but when I bought the bat drill it was as weak a thing that I have ever seen and gave it to the kids to play with.

Building the new improved chicken palace on the weekend, and my 23yr old Bosch, went up in a cloud of smoke and sparks, (Gees they don't make them to last do they!!) driving self tapping roofing screws with a socket attachment through colourbond into treated pine. Mind you it has done countless holes for masonry attachments and lots of red gum sleepers when I put the garden edge in
So I to am in the market, hmmmmm Fathers Day is just around the corner, must do some homework and drop a few hints,

I reckon this is where the $99 Makita impact driver would come into its own.
Wongo, How did yours hold up for the deck install?

Well, I'm not tradie but it will get the odd decent workout, and I doubt I'll last another 25 years anyway.
