    Post Biscuit Joiners

I have an old Archer (Carbatec) biscuit joiner that I've been wanting to replace for some time now. I don't want to go for Ryobi, Ozito or other cheap types nor can I afford the Festool version. So I'm looking for a middle of the road unit that's got a very good fence system.

    Any suggestions (and sources)?

    Rob

    Hey mate,

I had a porter cable biscuit joiner before I bought my domino.

It was awarded 5 out of 5 in a review that I read, and they also get great reviews online. The only thing is that I don't think you can buy them brand new anymore. However they pop up on the second hand market quite regularly.

I can't speak for the other brands, but if imagine the makita would be another good option.

    Question

Yeah, I saw the reviews for the P&C unit as well. Haven't seen the Makita one though.... Any idea where I can find one?

This one on ebay gives an idea of the cost of them Rob!

makita biscuit joiner, Industrial items at low prices on eBay.com.au

I think I paid about 460 for mine some years back so and that was cost so they are holding their price.

    Cheers

lamello were one of the first makers of biscuit jointers. I retired and sold my cabinet making buisness 15+ years ago. I purchased one when they first came on the market, paid over $700 for it 20 + years ago, its still going strong , in fact I'm borrowing it for demonstration at our woodies on Monday night.
    cheers John.

Thanks for the advice guys... The Makita certainly looks like a better deal than the unit I've got....

Although I have had a Porter Cable for several years it was a toss-up between it and the Dewalt....certainly worth a look.

I have a Porter Cable biscuit joiner, model 23-557-56 for sale @ $130. I am selling all my woodworking machinery and will have a great list on this forum in the next few days.

    Default New Lamello machine out

Hi mate, it might be to late, but if not, check out the Lamello homepage. They have a new machine out which can be used as a normal biscuit joiner but also a machine which can install a completely new two-part cam element which is great for mitres: Lamello :: Zeta

I've seen it working when a rep of Lincoln Group showed it to a customer. It' an awesome tool!

    Cheers Chris

Thanks for the heads up Chris!

I've just had a look at the web data and it's a very cool system! I'm trying to find out a price for it but I suspect somehow that it's going to be rather pricey!

Still, the system is fascinating and looks like it'll be great for knock-down furniture (as well as for standard biscuit joinery)....

    Cheers....
