Elu sliding compound saw parts needed in CANADA
Greetings from Digby, Nova Scotia "Home of famous Digby Scallops"
A retired friend of mine acquired an Elu sliding compound saw some years ago which he recently replaced with a Hitachi CF10FSH because the cable that actuates the lifting of the blade guard no longer works despite a few past tries at jury rigging one. It is frayed, home made and causing friction.
How this saw even arrived into Canada is a mystery because in my forty years I've never seen their equipment in retail stores.
Its a sweet and very smooth operating little unit and he's offered to pass it along to me if I can find a dealer SOMEWHERE in the world where I can order that particular part.
Do any of you woodworkers and tool buyers know offhand of any past or current dealers or service centres for Elu power tools?
Since I am at home and the saw is six blocks away I can't provide the particular model at this instant but surely will if anyone can give me a lead.
Thank you for your time,

DeWalt took over Elu so that should be a good starting point for you.
I'm sure others will reply with other ideas.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

The Elu model we had in Aus was a PS174 . You should be able to get in touch with Black and Decker/ Dewalt/ Elu somewhere closer to home and get the parts required. Changing the cable is a bit of a fiddle but doable. Try a google search and something should come up.
In Aus they made the change to the yellow coloring that dewalt use . I am not sure if it is still available here.Jim Carroll

I just picked up a PS174 here in the UK and spares are readily available from http://www.mtmc.co.uk/prodtype.asp?P...ageHistory=cat no need to search for better prices as these guys are really keen.
The PS174 is a great little saw, small enough to go in the back of the car and light weight to but easily used in anger!
If you need any help getting the parts let me know.
You need to have a look at the plate and see what type the model is too.
