Cool Extending an arbor on a 3hp table saw to use dado blades

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has had a table saw (10") and made changes to the motor so that a dado can fit on the arbor thus being able to have ample room on the thread to secure the nut.
I dont want to have to buy a new table saw as the SBH-10 from Hare & Forbes is only 3 years old and in excellent condition. Thanks

I don't want to be too negative but unless you have a mill and metal lathe this will neither be easy nor cheap. I'd imagine you'd be looking into hundreds of dollars to have a machinist modify and produce the new bits. That is valuable money that could be put towards a bigger saw with the capabilities to do so.

    Default Possible Solution

What you are proposing is a reasonable request. It would be possible, with a few considerations to keep in mind.
The main one is: is there enough room to have an extended shaft especially when the blade is tilted to anything up to 45 degrees?
The next thing I would do is have a jolly close look and accurate measure of the shaft that is in it now and then ask the Metal Work section of this Forum if there is anyone willing to make you up a new shaft. The extra length of shaft would be sporting a left handed thread which makes for a little bit of tricky engineering, while the right hand end will need a keyway cut to secure the drive pulley.
Who knows, you may be able to work up a deal where you may be able to barter
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

You could get a 30mm threaded bush made that mounts to your 5/8 arbor... but all your blades will need a 30mm hole(common size).
