Fein blade choice: Am I wrong?
Hi all! I an getting confused with the choice of Fein blades and how hard to drive the tool. I bought some substitute blades in Oz and via Ebay in US but I do not understand their proper use I am afraid as one of the called japan blade snap at the joint or seem when I was driving the fein on a hardwood skirting board as I was cutting a channel for square conduit. Was it the fein or the blades not responding? Am I giving the fein a rough treatment? Thanks for your replies

which substitute blades did you buy? I saw replacement blades for Fien sanders at the Melbourne wood show. They had a "japan" blade. Surprisingly they weren't much cheaper than the original Fien blades which were on special.

gday I have used a variety of blades now in my fein and all dont do that well in oz hardwoods if you put to much pressure on them . Its hard to say how much pressure is enough but I try for just the weight of the fein and if its just making a little bit of sawdust then thats usually it. Interested to see others experience
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

Although I love my fein but I see it has limitation especially when working with hardwood. If possible I'd try to remove the shirk board and cut it with proper power tools. From my experience cutting hardwood with Fein mean you ruin your expensive fein blade very quick.

I guess so I had a talk with Fein people today and they told me even the warranty is void they be willing to service the unit as it was imported from Scotland, should anything happen.
With Oz hardwoods fein has not much luck especially those old woods very tough in my case skirting boards.
For me it is difficult to know when and how to use it properly because if I do let it go with it's own weight it does little just a bit of dust and if I push it hardwood starts to smoke often meaning the blade is net to go if not the unit. This is my experience so far anyway.

For those that have a Fein or other multmaster type tool big B had a new shipment of AEG battery models but no blades for them, By the look of the blades they may not fit other machines From memory it was a multi type tool ie multi master/ drill etc at around $300
