Fein compatible blade, has anyone used it ?
First, my fault
I used the segmented saw blade to cut a hole in weather board and ruin the blade, didn't realise the board is too hard for the blade.
To get a new blade, it'll cost me $89.00 http://www.justtools.com.au/category876_1.htm, I think this is a rip off for a think piece of HSS metal.
Alternatively this could be a viable option 15 Blade Mix Fein Multimaster, Bosch, SECCO Multi tool - eBay Saws, Tools Light Equipment, Construction, Business Industrial. (end time 22-Nov-09 13:02:37 AEDST)
I just wonder if their quality are comparable to Fein blade, has anyone used it and what is your opinion.

I bought these from a US site last month. They arrived promptly and seem to be good.
I have a Bosch 10.8 Multimaster that i use daily, tryed all the blades and they work well.
The deal is 12 or 15 blades for a set price works out much cheaper than $30 a balde in OZ
Cheers

I just ordered the 13 piece set in a case these last couple of days and will be eager to find out how well they do work. The current single piece replacement costs are ridiculous, as with most consumables i believe now.
I will be getting them for my Bosch multimaster as they are compatible. I use that on the jobsite and keep my fein stored in my cupboards with my major hiltis only to be ever used within my own company.

Hi Adam - I have just bought the same Bosch tool as you and have found the battery dies after only 10-15 mins or so, due to overheating - Also the 'battery indicator' button doesn't work. It seemed that I had to alternate the batteries and keep them on the charger throughout the day - I was doing 40mm plunge cuts in Western Red Cedar and while the work was continuous, I thought that was what the tool 'should' do until the battery went flat. I discovered that the batteries were actually overheating through the continuous use and needed to cool down before they'd even take a recharge - anyway, I'd be keen to know your experiences and whether or not you have had similar issues, or if you think I may have a faulty unit.

Hi There
Interesting you write this. I just collected my replacement battery from the tool shop after it overheated on its first use then wouldnt charge again.
My other battery has a broken clip on the side (My fault) and when the tool loads up it stops.
The indicator light on the side works fine anf the tool in general is excellent. I found that you need to get use to working with it as you cannot load it up by pushing it hard into the cutting material or it will overheat and stop. The batteries do get hot quickly and i have had some issues with them but not the tool. I suspect the batteries overheat then stop and may not be flat just hot, yet the tool will not work.
I cut door jams (MDF), Flooring (Hardwood) and have cut metal with the tool and as long as you just feather the blade across the cut and let the tool do the work its great. My collegues with the Fein brand will just push the tool into the cut and jam it so i suspect the Fein has a lot more torque ..................
The battery life with continuous use is as you say, I only use it for a minute or two every hour or so.
I have had this tool for three months and maybe if bosch had an 18v version it would solve these issues,
Hope this helps

fantastic info thanks - sounds like the same faults/issues/quirks - I can buy a US cordless (HARDIN brand) version of this unit for half the price so will buy two (with 240 volt chargers) and buy one 'corded' Bosch multi cutter ... returning their cordless version today.
Spoke to Bosch today and they said there were no known faults with the units ... hmmmm.
Thanks again for the info .... gotta luv the net and the forums for great adviceSteve

Fein multimaster
hi there guys, i have the Multimaster and now have the Supercut, these machines are life savers, they have no problems at all this type. The blades are something i have managed with the "term" let the blade cut and give it space to clear otherwise they get hot. I also purchase the blades in packs of 10 and 25 this gives me a per price of around $30.00.
i have spoken to the Melbourne Sales manager, and he has helped me heaps to give me what im looking for. The supercut is a devine piece of equipment this reduces my floor cutting even more so i now am seeing the benefits.
The bosch blades do not fit my machine as they are round in the centre, apparantly only fit the old machine.
i would like to hear more.
Reno
