    Default Fein vs Fitzall ... the bladerunner

    Fein half moon corner blade 80mm vs Fitzall flatmoon universal 80mm

    description
    other than branding they are virtually impossible to tell apart, same diameter, tooth pitch and profile

    price
    Fein = $65 aust, Fitzall = $8 aust

    test
    crosscut a piece of jarrah 15mm thick x 150mm wide

    performance
    Fein = 32 secs, Fitzall = 32 sec

    verdict
    the pics show similar wear so, at 12% of the price, I am going with Fitzall

    Fein bi-metal e-cut blades 29mm vs Fitzall 'nail eater demolition' universal blade

    description
    neither had the 'wavy edge' noted by Jeff so I did the test on aluminium rather than steel, the Fein cut more smoothly and quietly and the Fitzall threw up more of a burr

    price
    Fein = $85 aust for a pack of 3 (= $28 aust), Fitzall = $8 aust

    test
    12 mm plunge cut into the edge of 5mm thick aluminium

    performance
    Fein = 7.5 secs, Fitzall = 12.3 secs

    verdict
    as seen on the pics (Fein on the right) the wear appears to be similar but I doubt that this would be a good measure of longevity, for accurate cutting work where the finish is important I would use Fein but, at a quarter of the price, I would use the Fitzall for hack work especially demolition where nails are a possibility

    PS, I have no affiliation with either product nor their suppliers, in fact I have no affiliations to anything as I wouldn't join any group whose standards were so slack that they would let ME in!

    Thnaks fletty,

    Goo find.

    I bought a Fein top plus kit a few weeks ago and the price of the Fein blades make the actual tool look positively cheap. $46 for another scraper blade!

    Just got some of the Fitzall blades at work and I've noticed that the Japan-style wood blades are noticeably less sharp than the Fein.

    They seem to take more effort to push through and the cut is not quite as clean, but I'll take the trade-off considering the price.

    Multi-tool blades can be sharpened. Prior to xmas last year there were some waiting for collection at a trade tools store I visited that had been sent off to be sharpened at a cost of $17 each.

    theres also another brand from the US called Smart, we recently received some samples & they are of an extremely high standard

    They have a few different blades like a titanium coated blade & a double heat treated blade, now that we have seen the fitzall im starting to wonder if they are from the same factory

    Most flat, square face blades can be resharpened, as ha been noted in a previous post (dakotax3), .

    Coated blades have the issue that once the blade wears the coating on the inside of the tooth will be ground off if resharpened, the blade is then no different than a standard blade.

    The only advantage is if the blade(coated/treated) gives substantial better life & performance over the standard.

    Just my thoughts,

    Jeff

    I have been using Renegade (from Trade Tools Direct) replacement blades on my Fien Multimaster for over 18 months. The prices are a fraction than that of the Fien and there is very minimal loss of quality. After getting a price to have my fien blades resharpened I found it was a similar price to replacing them with the Renegades.
