Default new finish sander1/4 sheet - what are you using

My little Makita won't hold onto sheets any more. even 2 or 3 and they wander and tear up the job. Been using it for years and it still goes great guns. A pity the holding claws no longer work.

Ive read that the new Makita is poorly built so I'm reticent to buy one even though it gets good reviews. The bluer Bosch pro looks pretty solid but I don't like the felt pad. Looks a bit soft to me. I dont do a lot with it so air driven may be overkill

    Any recommendations?

    thanks

I`ve resorted to using strips of plastic from ice cream lids with mine.

I was considering converting to hook & loop (Velcro) as sander still works except it won’t hold paper.

I find that velcro is a tad springy so edges tend to get slightly rounded over using larger grit. Would be OK for finishing with the smaller grits and get some more use out of the machine.

This seems to work for me, especially for the thinner sheets.
    Worth a try.

    Buy new clamps.
Makita have them as spare parts.
I recently purchased my second set for my 30 year old sander.
Could dig up the part no if you need.
    Cheers
