New to the forum,, Need some tools
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if there is anyone, place or internet site that would have second hand or factory seconds of wood wooking tools.
I just bought a house & need to get some wood working tools for the shed.
Plan to build some book shelfs, coffee table, Entertainment cabinet & stuff like that.
Can anyone help???

Adzy,
Welcome.
GET OUT while you still have a chance!!!!
Haven't you read the threads on tool addiction!!
If you really must do this thing, I'm sure there are a few people on this list who can help, and they would say...(and I would agree with them) buy the best quality tools you can afford.
On the other hand, I would say (and they wouldn't all agree with me) there are many tools, particularly hand held power tools which are sold under brand names like GMC, Ozito and even Ryobi, which provide better value for newcomers than second hand ones.
Do a search from the menu above and read some of the extensive rants on this topic: it will take you all day, but you will gain a lot of knowledge of both sides of the argument, and may even have enough information to get started.
Hope to see pictures of the first thing you make!
Regards,
P

Adzy,
I would stay away from the really cheap ones around the $20 mark. You'll be throwing away your 20 bucks. You can also have a look at www.ebay.com.au where there are a lot of tools. You can get some great bargins but be warned that sometimes people get carried and pay more for second hand items than you can buy new.Photo Gallery

need some tools
New tools of reasonable quality are so cheap these days compared with 20 years ago that I would hesitate to suggest anybody spent time chasing used ones.
I don't know what there is in Canberra but if you can get to JET, CARBATEC, HERLESS or TOTALTOOLS I suggest you do so the last thing you want is to buy some old thing cheap, and then find that the modern attachements don't fit, ie don"t buy a 3/8" router they don't make 3/8 shank router bits anymore.
who would want a wooden handled claw hammer today?
Frank
