Default Fuel cell for Paslode CF-325 902200

Hi I have just bought the new framing gun CF-325. I'm having trouble finding the gas. The manual and the website state very clearly that you can only use the "new orange quicklode" fuel cell.

Can anyone tell me where in Perth or online I can buy these quicklode cells?

    Thanks heaps,

    Nick

Hardware store. At a guess right next to the nails for it.

Thanks for that, but I have been to quite a few stores looking before I posted and all they have is the little yellow fuel cells, the impulse fuel cells and the IM90i fuel cells. I can't find the specified "new orange quicklode cells"

Thats what I'm looking for. Does you hardware store have them?

    If so which store?

    Hi Nick,

I have been told, (by several sources including Paslode Australia) that if the gun has 'Paslode Cordless' on the name sticker and not 'Paslode Impulse' then it is a Yank gun, (American market).

The other give-away is if it needs a different transformer, i.e. an afermarket transformer to make it work in Oz 240V sockets.

So,.. if it is a brand new model, Yanky nail gun, then it is possible that Paslode Australia is not stocking them or the new fuel cells. Just a guess.

I have been advised to avoid buying American market Paslodes, particularly from ebay, warrenty issues etc. Never have so I don't have any experience with the yanky units.

That said, you may need to buy the cells from USA, if Customs lets you. Or maybe Paslode Australia does stock these cells. I would suggest that you do a search for the Paslode Australia phone number and call them, or ask at one of the hardware stores for the agent contact number perhaps.

Sorry I have not been much help. Talk to Paslode I reckon.

    Cheers
    Pops

Ok did some quick research and so far only found one pic for the actual gas canister that would suit this gun.

Other day bought a new cannister for my 3 ish year old framer. It came with the same kind of insert for my unit and a "twist and lock" that appears to look like your model.

Apart from the color of the the insert on the top.. it seems to be the same as this as shown in my foto.

From my reconing this would suit yours. Have no tech knowledge to back this. Simply an educated guess.

Picked mine up from Home Timber and Hardware, Bendigo. Obviously these guys are a big Franchise and all other the place.... at least in Vic.

    Yep that's the one Jatt.

You're right Pops, srry I forgot to mention in my original post, I bought it from the US on eBay. Thanks for the advice, today I actually when down to see the WA office of Paslode Australia.

They were very helpful. They advised me that my CF-325 or 902200 (US version) is pretty much the same as the new Framemaster B20540 (Aussie version). So the impulse gas like in Jatts picture above works fine with it. Interestingly there is also another similar version for the UK called the IM350.

Regarding the new orange quicklode gas from america, from what I can tell the only difference is that you don't need to twist and lock the adaptor on the fuel cell. The US version comes ready to load and you would save yourself about 3 seconds.

Now regarding nails, the CF-325 can shoot the RounDrive nails which are only recommended for the IM90i in Australia. It can also shoot the D-Head or clipped head nails, and I believe the dekfast nails too.

So that's all cleared up now. Thanks to Jatt and Pops for your thoughts

    Cheers,

    Nick

Well done Nick. The Paslode guys in Perth were very helpful when I spoke to them. Actually sounds like a good gun and very versatile, particularly if it can fire strip Dekfast nails. Good to know there is an Aussie equivalent too.

We await the photos of your first project with the little beast.

    Thanks for the update mate.

    Cheers

I looked at buying nails from the USA and they couldn't post the fuel cells internationally. But they were quite happy to post them around the US.

I'm not sure who it was but have you tried asking some of the people selling the guns and nails on eBay? they usually seem to be a pretty resourceful bunch.

We can buy them here in hardware and tool shops for about $15AUD each so if you get really stuck I could send you a bunch of them. I would probably nee to send them sea mail because of the explosive nature of them.

That about all I can offer.

yeah, i seen a couple of people selling a few fuel cells on ebay for around $15 each...which is high for the usa. the older fuel cells sell for around $12-13 for a pair.
to get the new style fuel cell, you can buy 1000 nails and 1 fuel cell for around $30...which is pricey for over here.

looks like you guys get two plastic adaptors to use the fuel cell in the newer or older nailers. over here, they dont do that. its either the older fuel cell with the external regulator, or the newer style with the integral regulator.....which you can only buy with nails.

I have exactly same problem. My friend send me this gun from usa and here in estonia , they dont sell this type of fuel cells. I was wondering , if any of you guys in au can send me these plastic adaptors. Maybe someone could collect them from old gas bottles. I 'd pay the shipping expenses. I just hope that they'll fit on i325 fuel cells, that they sell here, then i think i would have my problem solved. If anybody have these adptors , please email me, i'd really appreciate it

you can't just put the newer plastic adaptors on the old style fuel cells.
the old fuel cells have a snap on regulator. the new fuel cells have an internal regulator, and the tips are just a simple plastic piece.

if you take an older style fuel cell, and press the stem in, it releases a lot of gas.
with the new fuel cells, if you push the stem in, you get just a pulse of gas, because they moved the regulator inside the canister.

i have just been given a new cf 325 paslode and like every body else i have had trouble
finding the compatible fuel cells.Paslode informed me that the old type gas cells cannot be used in the new framing guns however the new quiklode gas cells can be used in the old model gas framing guns.

    Default Paslode gas

Son recently bought from bunnings a carton with 3000 ring shank paslode nails in it with three of the gas Cannisters as well, they were the paslode impulse type with six orange plastic push and twist fittings. It sounds as if this is what you were chasing. Try a bunnings if they are in western australia. The cannisters were given to a bloke with a nailgun that uses them.
