GMC wants to do everything
As time goes on I find it harder and harder to understand what the GMC strategy is. I am a self-confessed tool snob, but today on opening the latest Mitre10 cattle dog I find that not only is GMC expert at hand tools and air compressors but they now offer concrete mixers of all things.

Concrete mixers are a surprise because the shipping costs of something so bulky means that it would be hard to keep the price down.
For me the attraction of GMC would be if I only needed a tool for very occasional use and didn't want to pay much - but if I only need a cement mixer for that sort of use I might as well just buy premixed concrete.
I must admit though that those $98 generators look appealing.
Cheers
Paul

theres been some auctions at sandgate recently on used GMC stuff. I didn't realise the range they had until I went to one of these auctions.....Mind you most of the stuff was selling for more than new, but thats not unusual at auctions though there was some absolute bargins being had as well I must say.
Lets not forget the lawn mowers as well. I guess you could call that wood work though

I bought a $98 genny for camping, its a 750w, ho ho ho, read the fine print 550w continuous. For running a couple of lights it's fine and all I was after.
My only gripe is it has no laser sight nor do their lasers
Where are the cement mixers and how much?Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Excuse my ignorance, but anyone know what the average power consumption is of a mid-sized refrigerator?
I was considering getting one of these things in anticipation of repeated blackouts this year after losing several fridge loads of good food in 8-hour straight power drops
Will one of these things power a mid-size fridge? I could pull the fridge out and look for the labels etc, but I'd hate to see whats behind it :eek:How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?

Do you think that GMC will bring out a hand plane? And if so, do you think that it should come with a laser sight?
Happy Father's Day everyone.

If you lose your food in 8 hours I would seriously consider a new fridge.
The insulation should offer adequate protection for at least 20 hours, if not you will find it is probably running longer than it should and costing you money.
Back to the original question, the little genny's would not be big enough as the motor would probably be about 1hp (750watt +- a bit) or bigger, you could go for a bigger unit but expect to pay $1k+.
Derek, you would need two lasers for a hand plane to ensure you are pushing in a straight line, a bit beyond the scope of GMC..........at this timeStupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
