New Gmc Biscuit Jointer
About 6 months ago my original GMC bj packed it in after 13 cuts so I took it back to Bunnies and got my money back as they didn't have another bj in the place (any brand). Thats the way its been since then, not a bj in the place, so Fri before last I went in and jumped up and down and they rang me this past Fri and said it was in.
On Sat I picked up a new model GMC bj and what a difference the new model is, 1200W motor (overkill) and a lot more user friendly. The handles/trigger set up is good and the fence setup is a dream.
On a flat surface I just lay a piece of mdf to set the position of the cut, and then bring the fence down on top of the material I'm using and set the fence to that, a piece of cake.
The only problem with the unit is that the chip extraction hole is even smaller on this model and you do need a shop vac attached to suck em out.
All round at the same price as the old model $165.00 I'm happy.

Termite,
just a question regarding the bj. Does it have any play in the vertical plane. IE. would it cut slots that are not at 90 deg to the surface. I ask because I have noticed some of the cheaper bj's have what seems excessive play that may cut slots that will not be at 90 deg. I am looking at complementing my triton bj system with one of the cheaper models. I do not want to spend $500 on a bj. Let me know what the model # is.

I've got one of those also. They appear reasonably well made for the price with very little play in the fence mechanism. Like Termite, the only gripe is the dust bag, it needs to be connected to a vac.
If I do not clearly express what I mean, it is either for the reason that having no conversational powers, I cannot express what I mean, or that having no meaning, I do not mean what I fail to express. Which, to the best of my belief, is not the case.
